We are thrilled to share highlights from our recent training sessions at the 2024 New York State Technical Rescue Conference! Our team at Capital Technical Rescue not only showcased our "Confined Space Tricks of the Trade" program but also introduced our innovative "Forgetting AZTEKs" program.
The "Forgetting AZTEKs" program dives deep into alternative sets of fours and emphasizes their strategic use. We explored various pieces of equipment that can replace the traditional AZTEK system. Many of these alternatives are not only lighter and more affordable but may already be part of your standard harness setup—enhancing your efficiency in the field.
During the pre-conference, we had the unique opportunity to collaborate with instructors from around the world, focusing on critical skills through practical, hands-on experience. Participants engaged in an Urgent Rope Rescue Station and practiced Low Edge Transitions in both vertical and horizontal litter orientations.
The pinnacle of our pre-conference training involved a complex rigging exercise where we intentionally introduced a system failure during a simulated rescue operation. This scenario challenged teams to think on their feet and devise effective solutions, reinforcing the importance of adaptability in rescue situations.
